That's such a cute picture of Ichikawa-san. He looks like a man who enjoys a good laugh - and good sake!

I'm already tasting part 2. Coming soon!

Yes, that act will deserve all kinds of names! It's so wild to find a shop who kept sake that long in the store. How did you find it? I really think Futsushu can be great. You know I like good sake, grades don't matter!

Dear Melinda!
Greetings!
I totally agree with you!
Incidentally I may have you all screaming envy soon because I found a saketen who has kept loads of Shizuoka Sake
dating back to the Showa Era (at least 20 years ago!) in perfect condition all that time in refrigerators.
I've already tasted some beautiful sake from Niigata he has kept safe for 30 years!
As I intend to buy and taste them one by one, I will be
called all kinds of names!
Don't worry, I'll try to find some for you all, but they won't (mystery sake) blind tastings!
Cheers,
Robert-Gilles

Lucky you! And, yes, it's true - Etsuko and I do share your enthusiasm for futsuu-shu (who says that all Tokyoites are snobs?)! If only we could share your bottle of Chumasa!

No, seriously, I am really interested in getting more people to take another look at the lower grades of sake. There are some real gems out there!

Dear Etsuko!
Greetings!
Acha no Tsubone writes 阿茶の局in Japanese. Strikes a chord?
It's quite a popular shochu here in Shizuoka City. I know at lest 3 places which offer it!

Biwa shu sounds so good! What does Acha no Tsubone mean? I know what Yaramaika is in Hamamatsu-ben, but I could not figure out this one. Or, is this just a random name for local rice?
